CFA University Recognition Program
The curriculum of our BBA in Financial Analysis programme incorporates a significant percentage of the CFA Program CBOK, including the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct. Our students are exposed to the topics covered in the CFA Program, enhancing their preparation to sit for the CFA examinations upon graduation. Hence, with BBA in Financial Analysis, our College is one of Recognised Universities under the CFA University Recognition Program.
Other Recognitions in Banking and Finance Industry
Students of the BBA in Financial Analysis programme are able to obtain exemption of a number of papers of certain examinations or programmes administered by the following professional bodies:
- Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK)
- Society of Actuaries (SOA) for Validation by Educational Experience (VEE)
Student Support (Personal Tutor)
HSMC aims to develop students into caring, conscientious, capable and creative individuals. While capability and creativity may be developed through the academic curriculum and student activities, caring and conscientious character needs to be nurtured and supported through a caring campus culture and a network of dedicated teachers who are willing to devote their time and effort to guide, advise and encourage our students.
The Personal Tutor System aims to provide such a supportive network through which students can find help and guidance throughout their undergraduate education. Students would be provided academic advice by their personal tutor. There are at least 2 meetings with their personal tutors in an academic year.
State-of-the-art Trading Laboratory
The Financial Trading Laboratory is a state-of-the-art teaching centre with cutting edge technology. It is designed to replicate the characteristics of a professional trading room and allows students to gain access to the same market data and real-time information available to the professional traders in the financial world. Students have hands-on training in analysing and trading different financial markets including equity, foreign exchange, money market, fixed income, commodities and derivatives. Students also are able to run simulated portfolios on the real time information system or even participate in simulated markets trading. The use of the trading room is integrated into many of our finance and investment related modules, making classes more interactive, interesting and participatory. Real-time database such as the Bloomberg Terminals, Datastream and financial trading system (FTS) are installed. It not only provides students with the theory and the practical experience but also gives them the skills and the competitive edge necessary for a career in the financial services sector.
Student Exchange Opportunities
HSMC has engaged in exchange partnership with a number of overseas institutions in the USA, UK, France, Korea, Finland, Mainland China and so on. Students can take this opportunity to broaden their horizons and gain international exposure in their learning and living experience. The exchange programme normally lasts for one semester.
